There's something truly special about hitting the road in the United States, particularly when it begins in the lively atmosphere of Los Angeles. This year, I was thrilled to participate in a familiarisation trip across the country, and it was a magnificent experience. Let me take you through my adventures, starting from the sparkling streets of LA to the stunning vistas of the Grand Canyon and the excitement of Vegas.
Arrival in Los Angeles
Our journey kicked off in sunny Los Angeles, where we checked into the vibrant Hotel Ziggy. This stylish boutique hotel, just a five-minute walk from iconic spots like Sunset Boulevard, set the perfect stage for our adventure. Once we dropped off our bags, we were eager to explore!

Our first destination was the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame, home to over 2,700 stars honoring artists from film, television, music, and more. The excitement in the air was contagious, as we stood among the dreams and accomplishments of stars like Beyoncé and Bob Marley.
Hidden Gems of LA
Next up was the Griffith Observatory. From this scenic vantage point, we were treated to breathtaking views of the city, with the Hollywood sign shining brightly in the distance. The observatory offers fascinating exhibits on space and science, making it an enlightening stop for visitors.
After soaking in the sights, we headed to the Guitar Center on Sunset Strip to explore the Rock Walk, which celebrates musical legends. As night fell, our adventure took us to the Whisky a Go Go, a historic venue that has seen performances from legends like The Doors and Janis Joplin. To add to our excitement, Slash from Guns N' Roses made a surprise appearance, leaving the crowd in awe as he played alongside Michael Monroe.
Santa Monica Beach and Beyond
Our time in LA ended with a visit to Santa Monica Beach. Strolling along the pier, we felt the refreshing ocean breeze and heard the soothing sound of the waves. It was a perfect way to relax before our next adventure.
After spending two adventurous nights in LA, we flew to Albuquerque, eager to explore New Mexico. Upon arrival, we collected our rental car—a robust red Ram 2500, ideal for our epic road trip.
On the Road to Adventure
Our first major stop was the Four Corners Monument, where Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico converge. Standing in four states at once was a fun experience, and the scenic beauty surrounding us was nothing short of spectacular.
Later, we checked into Bluff Dwellings, where we experienced a night in charming tipis. Stargazing here was magical; I was lucky to see at least five shooting stars illuminating the night sky.

The next morning, we woke early to visit the Mexican Hat Monument, an unusual rock formation that immediately caught our attention. We then ventured to Forrest Gump Point, where a famous film scene was shot, before making our way to the picturesque Monument Valley. The stunning rock formations made me feel as if I had stepped into a classic Western film.
Our long and exhilarating day concluded with a hike along the Lower Calf Trail, leading us to a serene waterfall that felt like a hidden treasure within the vast desert landscape.
Escalating the Adventure
The excitement increased as we arrived in Escalante. We stayed in an impressive Airstream that offered modern comforts amid nature's beauty.

This campground (Ofland Escalante) featured a nostalgic drive-in movie theater showcasing classic films, along with clean bathrooms and a refreshing swimming pool—definitely a highlight of our trip!
With an early start the next day, we set off for White Pocket. After tackling some off-road driving, we found ourselves surrounded by terrain resembling the moon—an experience that felt otherworldly.
A Night (and Day) to Forget
Following our hike in White Pocket, we travelled to Page, Arizona. Unfortunately, our stay at the Rodeway Inn didn’t meet our expectations. The pool was closed, and the room lacked basic comforts, leaving us pleased to move on.
The disappointment quickly faded, however, when we visited Antelope Canyon the next morning. This breathtaking location, with its vibrant colors and stunning formations, looked like something out of a dream. I felt like I was walking through my computer's wallpaper!
Grand Finale of the Roadtrip at the Grand Canyon
Our epic road trip culminated at the Grand Canyon, where feelings of awe and wonder surrounded us. Despite the crowds during the Easter weekend and a hunt for parking, standing at the canyon's rim was an unforgettable moment. The vastness and beauty of the landscape left us speechless.
As we wrapped up our adventure, we drove to the airport in Las Vegas and returned our trusty Ram 2500.
Last Destination: Las Vegas!
From the airport, we hopped into a taxi, buzzing with excitement for the grand finale of our epic journey of exploration, discovery, and awe! We were about to dive headfirst into the exhilarating chaos of Vegas, where we spent three unforgettable nights at the incredible New York, New York Casino Hotel. The hotel was exceptional in every way—its theme, staff, and comfort were top-notch. Our room had the rollercoaster zooming by, perfectly capturing the city's vibrant energy. During our Vegas adventure, we hit up countless themed bars like Coyote Ugly, Blake Shelton's bar, Hogs and Heifers, and so many more. Boredom was never an option, as the streets were alive with the dazzling performances of talented street artists. We explored numerous hotels, including the lavish Bellagio, where we marveled at the stunning fountain show, and the Venetian, which magically transported us to the enchanting Italian waterways. No Vegas trip is complete without experiencing the mind-blowing Sphere and its cutting-edge technology, visiting the neon museum, and of course, soaking up the sun with a relaxing pool day. It was truly a brilliant way to cap off the most wonderful, eclectic trip!
Reflecting on a Memorable Journey
Thinking back on this familiarization trip, I can confidently say it surpassed all my expectations. From the glamor of LA to the rugged beauty of the canyons and the majesty of the Grand Canyon, to the excitement of Vegas, every moment was an adventure packed with discovery.
If you are a travel lover, a music enthusiast, or simply looking for an extraordinary experience, I strongly recommend this itinerary. So pack your bags, and set off on your own unforgettable journey across the U.S.!
